Halibut Blue Advertising was founded by Michael McLaughlin and Chris Kuhar during the height of the recession – October 2009. Many people asked what we were thinking to leave full-time positions as Creative Director and Art Director of another advertising agency and start a new business. After working together for 12 years, we knew our strengths and weaknesses and knew we complemented each other. We have the same business philosophies and work ethic. We wanted to create something we could be proud of and with the support of our families and advice from trusted advisors, we opened our doors. We knew how to run an advertising agency, but we had to learn to run a business. We’ve taken things slowly, asked lots of questions and have staffed accordingly. We love what we do and it shows.
